Living Wings
Your flying mounts get faster as they level, darn it. All 23 of them.
By the endgame Palworld has one right answer in the air, and everything else is a strictly worse version of it — so everything else gets shelved. Living Wings gives all 23 scalable flyers a real ceiling to grow into. They do not overtake the top tier and are not meant to; they become fast enough to be worth flying, so picking the one you like is a preference rather than a handicap.
And the answer stops being the same everywhere. Inside its own element a specialist is not a compromise at all — a fire flyer matches the very best in a hot zone, a dark one owns the night, an ice one the cold. The endgame turns into a stable you pick from, rather than a single mount.
How it works
Jetragon sprints at 3300 and nothing here matches it in ordinary conditions — the top tier stays the top tier. What a mount reaches on a normal flight is a share of that, and two things decide the share.
Stamina costs speed. Two all-rounders:
- Nitewing — 100 stamina, reaches 2901. Quick, and grounded sooner.
- Selyne — 300 stamina, reaches 2202. Slower, and still up long after Nitewing has landed.
Same ceiling, different spend — so the table below is not a ranking.
A specialist is the WORSE pick outside its window. That is the trade, not a side effect:
- Roujay — an all-rounder, 200 stamina. 2701, always, everywhere.
- Helzephyr — peaks at night, 170 stamina. 2611 by day, 2970 once it is dark.
Helzephyr carries less stamina than Roujay, and both sit in the same stamina band — so endurance is not what separates them. By day it is still the slower of the two. That gap is what the niche costs: the all-rounder is faster almost all the time, and the specialist gives up everyday speed to own one part of the day.
How rare your window is decides what it pays. Inside its element a specialist stops being charged for endurance; only the rarity of the condition discounts it. Hold two windows and you pay for both — Frostallion Noct lands at 2772 where its cold-only sibling hits 3300.
- Ragnahawk peaks in heat, which needs the right biome. Rare, so it pays in full: 3300 in a hot zone — level with Jetragon, in the one place it earns it.
- Beakon peaks in daylight — half the clock, so it is discounted to 2970.
The rest is levelling. A mount starts at stock speed at the level its saddle unlocks and climbs toward its own ceiling as the pal levels. No items, no grind.
It never nerfs. Only ever lifts. A mount already beating its budget is left as shipped — and ground mounts, plus the six endgame flyers (Jetragon, Xenolord, Eidrolon, Eidrolon Ignis, Shaolong, Panthalus), are untouched. They are the target everything else is measured against.
Dedicated servers
The client decides how fast a mount flies; the server holds the field saying how fast it is allowed to, and corrects anything above. So a client-only speed mod gets its boost written, then taken away, over and over — the rubber-band. Install it on both sides and that never happens.
There is no separate server build. The same download works out which half to run from its install path, and the server half is tiny: it counts nothing, owns nothing, draws nothing, needs no other mod. Single-player and co-op hosts need only the one copy — your own game is the authority.
Each install reads the config.lua on its own disk. On a dedicated server the in-game options page governs your client while the server keeps following its own file — including the master switch, since the server writes speeds too. Balance numbers must match on both machines.
