Special Mount Slot

Special Mount Slot is a lightweight Quality of Life mod that adds a sixth Pal slot to your party — but with a twist:

The additional slot can only be occupied by rideable Pals.

Instead of simply increasing the party size from 5 to 6 without restrictions, the goal of this mod is to provide some extra flexibility while keeping the additional slot reasonably balanced.

You can use the extra slot for:

• Ground Mounts
• Flying Mounts
• Water Mounts

Your original five party slots remain unrestricted and work as usual.

Why this mod?

I wanted the freedom to bring a dedicated mount without having to sacrifice one of the five regular slots in my party.

At the same time, simply adding an unrestricted sixth Pal felt too powerful to me. Limiting the additional slot to rideable Pals seemed like a good compromise:

More convenience without simply giving the player another unrestricted party member.

How the Mount Slot works

The sixth slot uses a whitelist of rideable Pal Character IDs.

This includes supported:

• Ground mounts
• Flying mounts
• Water mounts
• Pal variants
• Alpha variants where applicable

Because the mod uses a whitelist, new rideable Pals added in future Palworld updates will not automatically be supported.

When Pocketpair adds new mounts, the whitelist will need to be updated before those Pals can use the additional slot.

The normal five party slots are not affected by this restriction.

Features

• Adds one additional party slot

Known Issues

Palbox Drag & Drop

Drag & Drop involving the additional slot in the Palbox does not currently work correctly.

Please use normal clicking to move Pals to/from the additional slot.

Normal click-based interaction works without problems.

The additional slot also works through the Team menu.

Important: If you try to replace the Pal in the sixth slot with an incompatible/non-rideable Pal directly from the Palbox, both Pals will automatically be moved back into the Palbox.

Neither Pal is lost. This is intentional fallback behavior to prevent an incompatible Pal from remaining in the additional mount slot. You can simply select your desired rideable Pal again and place it into the sixth slot.

Arena

When entering the Arena, only the five vanilla party slots are displayed.

The additional sixth mount slot added by Special Mount Slot is not shown in the Arena interface.

Switching between Co-op Host and Guest

Switching from being the Co-op Host to joining another Co-op session as a Guest without restarting Palworld may cause the mod to behave incorrectly or stop working.

Please restart Palworld before switching between hosting a Co-op session and joining one as a Guest.

If the mod stops working after changing between Host and Guest during the same game session, completely restart Palworld before reporting the issue.

Multiplayer

The mod has been tested in:

• Singleplayer
• Hosted Co-op

Both worked during testing.

The mod has NOT been extensively tested in larger multiplayer or dedicated-server environments.

If you use the mod in those environments, please keep this in mind.

Requirements

UE4SS Experimental (Palworld) is required.

Make sure UE4SS Experimental and Special Mount Slot are both installed and enabled through Palworld's Mod Management.

If Steam displays UE4SS Experimental as a required Workshop item, subscribe to and enable it as well.

AI Assistance / Development Note

This mod was created with the assistance of AI.

My personal knowledge of Palworld mod development and Unreal Engine internals is limited, but I still wanted to create and release this mod because it is a feature I wanted to use myself.

AI was used extensively to help with analyzing game behavior, writing and debugging the C++ code, interpreting logs, and developing the implementation.

The mod itself was developed through repeated in-game testing and iteration rather than simply generating code and publishing it untested.

I want to be transparent about this because I believe users should know how the mod was created.

Because of my limited modding knowledge, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to solve every compatibility issue or problem that may appear after future Palworld updates.

Compatibility with future Palworld updates

Palworld updates may potentially break the mod.

Additionally, because the sixth slot uses a whitelist, newly released rideable Pals will require an update to Special Mount Slot before they can use the additional slot.

If an update introduces new mounts, please give me some time to update the whitelist.

• Whether the problem can be reproduced

Reports about rideable Pals that are rejected by the sixth slot are especially useful, as they may indicate a missing Character ID in the whitelist.
