Project Viewpoint Distant Horizon
English
Project Viewpoint Distant Horizon is an independent scenery add-on for Project Viewpoint. It reads static terrain and scenery from the active map files, so unexplored areas can gradually show roads, forests and buildings. From a rooftop, distant trees retain textured silhouettes, while buildings retain facades, windows and roofs instead of collapsing into plain blocks. The Louisville rooftop comparison images show the difference with the add-on off and on.
Features
- Loads static distant scenery without requiring prior exploration, combining base-game and map-mod regions according to map load order.
- Extends the visible range of ground, roads, trees and building exteriors with a gradual transition from nearby detail.
- Offers adjustable panorama and detail ranges, with incremental loading and memory budgets.
- Installs separately without modifying or bundling the original Project Viewpoint files.
Installation and use Requires Project Viewpoint and ZombieBuddy. Install and enable them according to their own instructions. Load order: ZombieBuddy → Project Viewpoint → Project Viewpoint Distant Horizon. Target game version: Project Zomboid Build 42.21.
Fully exit and restart the game after installing, updating, enabling or disabling this mod. Switching mods while the game is running does not refresh the renderer correctly.
Press Delete in-game and open World / Distant Horizon to adjust settings. Start with the defaults and allow newly viewed directions time to load. Larger viewing ranges may increase loading time and memory or video-memory use. Results depend on hardware, maps and other mods.
Current limitations This add-on extends visible static scenery; it does not simulate distant zombies, vehicles or physics. Player-made construction, demolition and moved objects may not appear from static map data in areas that have not loaded. The panorama also depends on map files, map-mod compatibility, weather and resource budgets. This is an experimental mod.
