Your armory, on display.
Viewpoint - 3D Military Armory adds buildable military storage that displays your actual stored firearms in both Viewpoint and isometric mode.
Updated for Project Zomboid Build 42.21 Singleplayer and multiplayer: Includes a dedicated-server Lua authority path and client-side 3D displays.
0.5.17 performance update
Reduced repeated inventory scans and display-layout allocations. Hidden or distant armory containers now skip unnecessary 3D capture work. Isometric rendering respects the game's normal texture resolution instead of forcing an expensive higher resolution. Legacy placement cleanup runs as objects load instead of repeatedly scanning nearby storage.
Existing furniture IDs, inventories, recipes and collision behavior are unchanged. No world reset is required. Back up your save, update server and clients, then fully restart. Checks include 20 regression suites, local dedicated-server placement/rendering and a copied multiplayer world saved with 0.5.16, upgraded and restarted with its stored item IDs intact. This is not an FPS guarantee or a test of every mod collection.
Dedicated servers: The 0.5.16 Lua authority backend remains in place. Armory does not require a server-side ZombieBuddy Java agent. Players still need the usual Viewpoint/ZombieBuddy client setup. Servers already using the agent retain their existing authority implementation; other mods may still need it.
New: two military lockers and a walk-in container
- Military gun locker: six long-gun positions, four handgun hangers and a stocked overhead supply shelf.
- Military storage locker: six long-gun positions, four handgun hangers and a separate supply compartment. Its doors open independently.
- Expedition armory container: a walk-in 3x3 structure with 50 long-gun positions, two cargo doors, three sliding drawers and an upper cabinet with separate opening doors.
The handgun hangers show normal pistol components while omitting oversized stock/bipod display accessories. This changes the display only; original weapon attachments remain on the inventory item.
Loot that fills and stacks
Put loot into the storage locker's supply shelves or the container's drawers and upper cabinet. Cosmetic ammo cartons appear and stack as the compartment fills, and decrease as loot is removed. They represent fullness and are not additional loot items. The other military locker's overhead cartons are decorative from the start.
Use normal PZ inventory transfers. Bottom, Middle and Top drawer labels and paired lower/upper rifle tabs help you find each compartment. Loot tabs use military storage icons.
Original racks included
- Armory cabinet: eight long-gun positions and a segmented rolling shutter with opening/closing sound.
- Freestanding rifle rack: twelve long-gun positions, six on each side.
- Military wall rack: four horizontal long-gun positions.
Stored weapons use their native 3D models. Taking a weapon out updates its display. These three original racks accept long guns; the new lockers also have dedicated handgun hangers.
Doors, building and dismantling
Use the normal Interact key (E by default) or the furniture's right-click controls to open and close its doors. Drawers and cabinet doors have separate controls. Cargo walls block movement while the open entrance allows access to the interior.
Find recipes in the Building menu, Welding category. Use the listed sheet metal, bars, screws, welding supplies and mask. The Expedition Armory Container requires 20 small metal sheets, 32 metal bars and 128 screws, plus welding supplies and Metal Welding 5. Rotate the placement preview to choose your entrance direction.
Move eligible empty furniture with PZ's native pickup/place controls. Use a usable sledgehammer and native Destroy mode to remove the complete expedition container. Stored loot is dropped rather than intentionally deleted; normal game permission checks still apply.
Requirements and setup
- Project Viewpoint - the 3D renderer and model-pack support.
- ZombieBuddy - install its Java agent on your game client and approve the addon when prompted. Armory does not require that agent on the dedicated server; keep the normal Workshop dependencies enabled.
- Project Viewpoint: Visible Construction - recommended for first-person building previews.
Enable DeadWorks - Military Armory in your game and save. Fully exit to desktop and restart after updating. Avoid enabling a duplicate local copy alongside the Workshop copy.
Modded firearms
Guns of Marz firearms were used in development and appear in the pictures. Guns of Marz is separate, is not included, and is not required. Other firearm packs need compatible native models, attachment metadata and weapon classification; compatibility with every pack is not guaranteed. Supply cartons use vanilla PZ models.
Testing and compatibility
Live testing covered building in both camera modes, four rotations, door and drawer operation, interior movement, weapon and carton displays, save/reload and sledgehammer destruction. Automated regression checks also cover inventory preservation and native collision. Earlier releases received mixed multiplayer reports. The 0.5.16 server backend is available for community testing across mod collections. Other game versions remain unverified.
Bug reports and suggestions
Include your game/mod versions, camera mode, singleplayer or multiplayer, weapon pack and steps to reproduce the issue. A screenshot or short clip and the relevant console.txt section are especially useful.
