AQD Armor Expansion should serve as a good replacement. It's a bit larger in scope but seems to have the required features and 'skins' are supported. Do give it a try.

Known Problems
- Some construction models have a very slightly different texture applied to them
- Armor 'skins' don't work as this feature was added after I stopped maintaining this mod
