[FIXED] Kodiak Fly-Through-Welder (& Grinder)

By Unsaved_Changes

Adds wide-range welders and grinders designed for printing, deconstruction, or maintenance of (large) ships. The models are ugly because they still have the style from 2014 SE.

[FIXED] Kodiak Fly-Through-Welder (& Grinder)

Description

UPDATE:

Now has Grinder counterparts! This was requested over on steam a while back, but I forgot about addressing that. It took a few pals to construct a continent-sized grinder pit for me to realize how much these larger grinders can save your frames when deconstructing stolen space/planetary stations or capital ships.

I was asked to reupload this mod here. Because I know I will hardly check on this website in the future, please report any problems with it on the mod's steam page instead. Then I'll get a notification I'll actually read...

This is a fixed version of the archaic mod that can be found here. (Steam link)

Adds wide-range welders and grinders designed for printing, deconstruction, or maintenance of (large) ships.

As should be clear by now, this is NOT my mod. I only fixed it, since placing any of these crashed the game. I patched it for myself a long time ago, but I’ve grown super tired of telling my friends how to fix it, as they DID crash if the block was placed unless they fixed it themselves, too. Publishing the mod should get rid of these issues, and provide a version for others to use, as the original creator hasn't maintained the mod since 2016.

The models in this mod look dated, I am aware of this. However, I feel they kind of fit the spirit of this 'legacy' mod and the way the game used to look in 2014.

If the original owner of this mod wants me to take it down, I will.

Changes I made:

  • Increased radius as the original radius seems to have been corrupted. Unless it was always that small and far...
  • Fixed crash upon placement.
  • Added some superconductors to the required building components. I figured a welder this powerful should have at least one expensive component for balancing reasons. It’s not really expensive in my experience, but at least requires a somewhat rare material: gold.
  • Rebalanced total block mass.
  • Added Grinder counterparts. (Affected objects still get force applied to them!)
  • Added Block Variants.
  • Fixed the blue background behind the flat welder icon.
  • The flat version is now airtight.
