Helios Fusion Reactors

A star in a box. Helios reactors are compact tokamak fusion reactors that burn Ice. They come in three tiers for large and small grids, with their own high-tech parts.

A reactor only burns what the grid draws.

New parts (Assembler)

• Magnetic Confinement Coil: iron, cobalt, gold, platinum
• Plasma Injector: iron, nickel, silicon, silver
• Fusion Core: iron, gold, platinum, uranium, magnesium

Reactors also need steel, superconductors, motors and computers. The bigger the tier, the bigger the bill. A reactor only switches on once its fusion parts are welded in.

Features

• Custom animated model: plasma streams round a glass ring threaded through 12 magnet coils, energy climbs the central solenoid and the coils fire in turn, faster as power output rises, with core flares under heavy load
• Bigger with every tier: 1x1x1, 3x3x3 and 5x5x5 on large grid, 3x3x3, 5x5x5 and 7x7x7 on small grid, with construction stages for each
• Own toolbar icon for every tier
• Tier glow colours: cyan (300 MW / 1 GW), violet (750 MW / 2.5 GW), orange (1 GW small / 5 GW)
• Paintable hull, plus vanilla status lights (on / off / damaged)
• Vanilla conveyor ports centred on the top, bottom, front and back (the 1x1x1 has bottom and back only). Feed ice by conveyor, or press F on a port to put ice in by hand
• Vanilla terminal panels on the ports

Good to know

• Contains mod scripts (visuals only). They run on clients and never on a dedicated server
• Works in single player, multiplayer and on dedicated servers
• Safe to add to existing worlds. Removing it removes the reactors and parts
• Updating from an older version: most reactors changed size (only the large 2.5 GW and small 300 MW stay 3x3x3). Placed reactors take their new size when the world loads, so check for overlaps with neighbouring blocks
• Pairs well with Photon Bio-Farms (oxygen + hydrogen solar farms)
