HELIOS - Prototech Laser Drill

A recovered industrial laser turret that replaces the rare Prototech drill. Find it, capture it and put it to work: it keeps the original rare components and cannot be repaired. Grinding it down destroys its irreplaceable parts.

Version 0.8.18 — testing phase. Maximum reach is now 300 m. Firing power increases by 30%: 45.5–780 MW, with 418.4 MW at 25 m; standby stays 6 kW. Single-player flight while firing passes, including insufficient mining power. Native cockpit settings still apply. Multiplayer and recovery after cockpit destruction remain under test. Custom mining rates are preserved; ore appearance uses native voxel rendering. Restart the server and clients after updating.

• 300 m maximum reach from the muzzle, with independently aimed head and a physical rear camera. The complete excavation sphere must stay within reach.
• Adjustable mining diameter up to 25 m; rock clearing up to 35 m. Moving emitter collar, a centered pulsing beam, stone fragments, flashes, area-scaled dust and illumination at the rock face.
• 45.5–780 MW firing demand, increasing with area; 6 kW standby. Larger fields harvest more material per second.
• Shallow passes visit randomized patches across the cutting area, funded in 1.5-second cycles; clearing is 2.6 times as fast at the same diameter by default. An on-screen warning explains full cargo.
• Ore inventory, automatic conveyor export, partially paintable armor and industrial beam audio, low mechanical charging and stopping, continuous drilling sound and audible head movement. No ammunition needed.
• Ship and suit status HUD while operating the drill, plus one instrument with charge/stop progress, power draw/need, storage percentage and litres, and resource warnings. Persistent view controls: 1 default, 2 emitter, 3 beginning of barrel, 4 your assigned ship camera. Choose that camera by name in the HELIOS terminal (K); 0 returns to the cockpit and its normal toolbar. The laser follows the turret's actual aim in every view.
• English and Russian in-game information, following your game language.

Controls: sit in a cockpit or control seat, then use the turret's Control button. Hold fire for two seconds to charge with a rising sound. Releasing stops the beam immediately. A full charge takes two seconds to wind down; a partial charge stops proportionally faster, with firing locked until completion. Full storage or lost power also winds down while the trigger is held. The instrument shows the reason, then charging resumes when conditions recover. Left mouse collects ore; right mouse clears terrain without collecting it. Set both diameters in the terminal.

For ship movement, use a flight-capable cockpit with thruster control enabled. If the ship has a designated main cockpit, operate HELIOS from that cockpit. HELIOS preserves these settings. The underside port is a conveyor port.

Compatibility: keeps the original 3×3×4 footprint and replaces saved and newly spawned vanilla Prototech drills. New BioResearch encounters use a bottom-mounted installation above the original piston conveyor. Already-spawned drills are not repositioned; existing ships may need reconnection underneath. Avoid other mods replacing this same drill or overriding the BioResearch prefabs. Enable only one copy of HELIOS in the world.

Максимальная дальность от излучателя — 300 м; вся сфера выработки должна оставаться в этих пределах. Диаметр добычи — до 25 м, расчистки — до 35 м. Вращающийся излучатель, пульсирующий луч без скачков по зоне выработки, осколки, вспышки и пыль, закреплённая в точках появления, с плотностью по площади. Потребление при работе — 45,5–780 МВт в зависимости от площади, в ожидании — 6 кВт. Есть отдельная камера, вывод руды через конвейеры и частичная покраска корпуса.

Порода снимается неглубокими слоями в случайном порядке по всей площади, с выделением объёма выработки каждые 1,5 секунды. Скорость обоих режимов ограничена; по умолчанию расчистка в 2,6 раза быстрее добычи при одинаковом диаметре. При заполнении хранилища на экране появляется предупреждение.

При управлении сохраняется интерфейс состояния корабля и скафандра. Единая панель показывает зарядку и остановку, фактическое питание и нужную мощность, заполнение хранилища в процентах и литрах, а также причину блокировки.

Для полёта используйте кабину с возможностью управления кораблём и включённым управлением двигателями. Если назначена главная кабина, управляйте HELIOS из неё. HELIOS не меняет эти настройки автоматически.

Управление: сядьте в кабину или кресло пилота, нажмите «Управлять»; мышь — наведение, ЛКМ — добыча, ПКМ — расчистка без сбора. Зарядка занимает две секунды. При отпускании луч гаснет сразу; полная зарядка останавливается за две секунды, частичная — быстрее. Нехватка мощности или полное хранилище запускают остановку; после восстановления начинается новая зарядка. Диаметры настраиваются в терминале. Нижний порт — конвейерный. Используйте одну копию HELIOS без других замен того же бура.

В новых исследовательских станциях HELIOS установлен основанием на исходный конвейерный поршень. Уже появившиеся буры автоматически не переставляются. Возможен конфликт с другими заменами этих станций.
