HMS.U235 – Nuclear Fission for Space Engineers ☢️

⚠️ Requires Heat Management System – U235 is an official expansion module for it.
Vanilla reactors in Space Engineers are… a box that makes power. Flip the switch, collect the watts. HMS.U235 fixes that. Now you'll learn why so many people are afraid of nuclear reactors. ☢️

☢️ What Does This Mod Do?
Replaces vanilla reactor behavior with a full nuclear fission simulation. Nuclear power is not a fossil fuel that burns at a constant rate, and this mod makes sure you feel every bit of that difference.

4-state reactor lifecycle - reactors don't just turn on. They spin up, stabilize, and cool down. ⚪Idle → 🟠Heating Up → 🟢Running → 🔵Cooling Down. Power is only produced during Running state. Heat up consumes all reaction energy to bring the core to operating temperature, so plan your startup time into your power budget
Dual thermal mass - each reactor has a hot core and a structural shell. Heat flows outward from the core into the HMS heat network. Core locks at 800°C during normal operation
Temperature-dependent power output - cold startup means no power. Full output only once the core reaches operating temperature. Plan accordingly
Volume-scaled fuel consumption - larger reactors burn proportionally more fuel per batch, with power output scaling accordingly
Control rod auto-throttle - rods engage automatically above a configurable temperature threshold. Response follows a sqrt curve mirroring real Doppler broadening, up to 80% throttle max. Minimum 20% reaction always burns. Manual override available
Meltdown and structural violation - core exceeding 1250°C triggers catastrophic explosion. So does taking enough damage during any active stage. Zero cooling means inevitable meltdown regardless of control rods. Oh, and don't grind a running reactor. Just don't. ☢️💥
Terminal UI - Launch/Stop buttons, Auto/Manual toggle, Control Rod Threshold slider, real-time core temp and power readout
Full multiplayer sync - state synchronized across all clients

⚠️ Warning – This Mod Isn't for Everyone
HMS.U235 is for engineers who've already mastered HMS and are hungry for more. If you install this mod, be prepared to:

🌡️ Babysit your core temperature - cold start, warm up, monitor, repeat
🎛️ Learn what control rods actually do - and why getting that threshold wrong is expensive
⏳ Wait for your reactor to be ready - there's no instant power here
💥 Rebuild after your first meltdown - and your second. Possibly your third
🔧 Never grind an active reactor - you have been warned
If you want a plug-and-play power source, this mod is not for you. If you want to feel like a real nuclear engineer, welcome to the control room. ☢️

🏠 Heat Mods Family

Heat Management System - the core thermal simulation, required
H2Real - realistic hydrogen and oxygen

💬 Suggestions / Feedback
Got ideas?
