Rollbot 1

In an attempt to colonize a Mars-like planet small, independent robots are tasked with survey, prospecting and finally terraforming. However, when small mining robots start missing – a heavier search and destroy independent robot can be deployed to roam the planet and contest the surface. Rollbot 1 is cheap, energy efficient rolling robot that is able to look for enemies and shipwrecks. It is equipped with dual gatling turrets and features a unique (too) “independent” behavior.

How to start it: Just push the only button located in the back and Rollbot will loop through three phases.

Phase 1: MOVE – 2 minutes Moving very quickly forward for two minutes (about 1km forward), Rollbot will scan the surrounding area and report with its beacon if it finds anything neutral or friendly. It WILL NOT attack anything.

Phase 2: PROWL – 9 minutes Rollbot will cut all communications and become invisible even to you. It will change its direction slightly and slow down to a prowl looking for enemies and attacking on sight. Rollbot will prowl for 9 minutes in radio silence.

Phase 3: Ambush – 5 minutes In this phase Rollbot will stop and pretend to be powered down and harmless. Its a trap! It is very much active and it will still attack anything that wanders into its sight. This ambush lasts for 5 minutes, after which the Rollbot will again sprint ahead to Phase 1.

How to control it: Foolish human! You will never control the robots! They are the future. Once the Rollbot is released it will only be visible to you for 2 minutes every 16 minutes. This is your chance to see where it currently is and interact with it. Other 14 minutes it will be hunting in silence. If there are problems or you need to change its search patterns or ammo you can trigger the “RESET” timer remotely which will stop it.

Advanced use: If you want to alter its behavior it will require some skill but I tried to simplify it by for you by naming the timer blocks (in)properly. You can adjust how long you want it to move/prowl/ambush. But, full control is not an option since this is a robot – not a drone. It is intended to work independently and save your time. You can also check the sensor and gatling if you want it to look/shoot at something specific.
