The Korako AV-20 Corvette is a light hybrid (air and space) battle/exploration corvette desiged for use in both atmospheres and the vaccum of space. The small craft is capable of landing on planets and reaching space from its surface. The Koroko seats a crew of 6. Korako is Maori for a bird with white feathers.

The Korako, as a light corvette, is not heavily armored nor heavily armed. It generally serves a flanking role along side larger ships and wouldn't be expected to survive long on its own. However, if it fights along side its sisters such as other Korako's, The Kaikohuru, and even the small Mikara's it is a force to be reckoned with.

Flight notes:

When landing on planets ensure that you turn on both ion and atmospheric thrusters. The ship can not slow down fast enough from 100m/s before hitting the surface so ensure that you enter with plenty of horizontal speed rather than vertical speed to give the ship time to bleed off vertical speed.

When attempting to reach space ensure that the ship only has vertical speed. Any horizontal speed will be wasted and will prevent the ship from reaching space. Lift off parellel with the surface and ascend until aproximately 5000m when the ship will begin to lose vertical speed. When the speed drops from 100m/s-90m/s rotate the ship aproximately 35º-40º and ensure that ion engines are enabled. This will allow the ion engines to begin producing thrust. If the ship is moving horizontally rather than just vertically, tilt the ship steeper. Vertical speed may drop slightly between 7000m-8000m. This is okay. The ship should regain its speed around 9000m. If the ship reaches 10,000m it is smooth sailing from there. Around 7000m you should begin to tilt the ship steeper (aprox 70º) until 10,000m where the ship should be 90º tangental to the surface.
