Build Picker

Look at a placed build object, press a key, and it's selected in your build menu, ready to place.

Like "pick block" in other building games. No more scrolling through the build menu to find the wall, foundation, or anything else you're standing right in front of.

Features

• Works whether you're already in build mode or not (see config options below)
• Only lets you pick build objects whose recipe you've actually learned
• Full co-op and dedicated server support, client-side only (no server install needed)

Usage

Configurable in config.lua to any single key (keyboard or mouse button).

Config options

• Keybind: See above. Any single key: F1-F12, A-Z, 0-9, or a mouse button.
• OnlyInBuildMenu (true/false): true = only works while you already have a build object selected. false = works anywhere, anytime (default).
• TraceDistanceCm: How far (in game units) to look for a build object. 2000 by default.
• Debug (true/false): Prints extra detail to the console. Off by default.

Requires UE4SS.

Known limitations

• Don't hold the right mouse button while selecting an object to build/copy. Releasing it will cancel the placement. This is vanilla behavior, just easier to trigger this way.
• Switching to a different object while a build object is already selected causes a brief stutter.
