Instant Palbox Search

Adds fast Palbox searching by Pal name or nickname, passive skills, learned active skills, and partner-skill descriptions. Also includes a scrollable List view with useful Pal details and support for additional Pal storage interfaces.

The mod does not move, rename, edit, or save Pal data. It only changes the Palbox interface and displayed results.

SEARCH BEHAVIOR

• Name(s): Commas show Pals matching any listed name. Example: [code]frost, jet[/code]
• Passive Skills: Commas require every listed passive. Example: [code]arti, seri[/code]
• Active Skills: Commas require every listed learned skill
• Partner Skill: Searches the complete displayed description, including formatted names, numbers, and percentages

Type at least three characters to begin filtering.

The first Active Skills search prepares the learned-skill index and displays live progress. Later Active Skills searches during the same Palbox opening reuse the completed index.

The mod has been runtime-tested in local single-player and controlled dedicated-server worlds. Only the client-side mod was needed for the controlled dedicated-server test. The tested official server rejected the mod-enabled client before joining.

CONTROLS

• Click the search field or press Ctrl+F to focus it
• Use the dropdown or press Tab while typing to switch search modes
• Press Escape to clear the search; press it again to close the current interface
• Use the button beside Search to switch between Default and List view

INSTALLATION

This mod requires UE4SS Experimental (Palworld).

After subscribing:

• Launch Palworld and open Options → Mod Management
• Turn Enable Mod on
• Enable both UE4SS Experimental and Instant Palbox Search
• Click Save and allow the game to restart

TROUBLESHOOTING

• No search field: Confirm that both UE4SS Experimental and Instant Palbox Search are enabled in Options → Mod Management, then save and allow the game to restart.
• Two search interfaces or unexpected behavior: Disable or remove the duplicate Steam Workshop or Nexus installation.
• Q/E page controls are missing: They are temporarily suspended while a search session is active. Press Escape to clear and leave the search, which restores the normal page controls.
• Short query does nothing: Filtering begins at three characters.
• Renamed Pal is not found immediately: Close and reopen the Pal storage interface to refresh the search snapshot.
• Need diagnostic evidence: Open [code]Palworld/Pal/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/UE4SS.log[/code] and search for [code][PalboxSearch][Init][/code].

CURRENT LIMITATIONS

• At most 200 matching Pal icons are displayed.
• Ctrl+F is currently fixed rather than configurable.
• Backspace: While the mod is loaded, Backspace edits text but no longer acts as a global menu Back/Cancel shortcut. Use Escape, or move controller focus away from Search before using B.
• Expedition Station: Search is currently disabled and needs more investigation.
• Dimensional Pal Storage: Search works in the normal Palbox pane on the left. The separate 320-page dimensional-storage pane on the right is not supported yet.
• Dedicated servers: The first Palbox opening during a connection indexes all occupied pages once. Applying a vanilla sort refreshes all filled pages and may take a few seconds. Official servers may reject mod-enabled clients before joining.
• Palbox Anywhere: Currently reported to conflict when the Palbox is opened remotely and may produce missing or incorrect search data.
• Expanded Palbox: Compatibility reports are mixed. Some players report that it works, while others report a result selecting the wrong Pal.

AI DISCLOSURE

AI assistance (codex gpt-5.6-sol high) was used to analyze debug logs, investigate Palworld and UE4SS behavior, and write the Lua code. I designed and directed the mod, chose its features and user experience, and manually tested and validated the implementation in-game.
