About Insurgent Air Support

From mod.io

Insurgent Air Support

The Insurgents call in an Apache during co-op Checkpoint counter-attacks.
Bots get helicopter fire support against the Security team. By default it's weakened and inaccurate on purpose, so it adds pressure and chaos without wiping your squad. Server owners can change the chance, weapons, accuracy, friendly fire and limits with a few settings.

New in v1.2

  • Server settings: chance, weapons, accuracy, friendly fire and limits can now be set in Game.ini, on the command line or in the map URL (see Settings below).
  • The Insurgent Apache is now painted desert tan.
  • The mod no longer replaces the game's counter-attacks, so it works alongside other counter-attack mods.
  • With no settings it plays exactly like before.

How it works

  • When the bots start a counter-attack, there is a 40% chance (default) they call an Apache.
  • The Apache arrives about 10–15 seconds later, then circles the objective and hunts the players with rockets and its 30 mm chaingun.
  • By default at most 3 Apaches per round, at least 90 seconds apart.
  • Only bots call it. Players can't call this helicopter.
  • The Insurgent Apache is painted desert tan, so you can tell it apart from a friendly Security Apache at a glance.
  • It leaves the game's own counter-attacks alone: the bots' normal counter-attack fire support (such as smoke) still happens, and other mods that change counter-attacks keep working.

Weakened on purpose (default, Accuracy 1)

  • Rockets: blast radius cut from 14 m to 6 m, blast damage from 400 to 100, direct-hit damage from 400 to 50.
  • 30 mm chaingun: blast radius cut from 5 m to 3 m, damage cut from 400 to 45, direct hits do half damage.
  • Accuracy: both weapons spread wide (4°), so most rounds land around you, not on you.
  • Bursts: shorter chaingun bursts (about 5–8 shells) with longer pauses between them.

Get to cover and it's survivable. If you stand in the open, it will still hurt.

Settings

<table> <tbody> <tr> <th>Setting</th> <th>Default</th> <th>Values</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Chance</td> <td>40</td> <td>0–100: percent chance per counter-attack (100 = every counter-attack, 0 = never)</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Weapons</td> <td>both</td> <td>both, gun (chaingun only) or rockets (rockets only)</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Accuracy</td> <td>1</td> <td>1 = weakened and wide (4°)
2 = weakened damage, but aimed better (rockets 1.5°, chaingun 3°)
3 = full vanilla Apache (normal damage and accuracy)</td> </tr> <tr> <td>FriendlyFire</td> <td>0</td> <td>1 = the Apache can also hurt the bots' own team</td> </tr> <tr> <td>MaxPerRound</td> <td>3</td> <td>most Apaches per round (0 = no limit)</td> </tr> <tr> <td>MinDelay</td> <td>90</td> <td>minimum seconds between two Apaches</td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

Option A: Game.ini (recommended, applies to every map; restart the server after editing). Add this to the server's Insurgency/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini (or WindowsServer/Game.ini) and change the values:

<pre>[/InsurgentAirAndArmor/Mutators/BP_Mutator_InsurgentAirSupport.BP_Mutator_InsurgentAirSupport_C] Chance=40 Weapons=both Accuracy=1 FriendlyFire=0 MaxPerRound=3 MinDelay=90</pre>

Option B: server command line. Add -IAS&lt;Setting&gt;=&lt;value&gt;, for example:

<pre>-mutators=InsurgentAirSupport -IASChance=60 -IASWeapons=gun -IASAccuracy=2</pre>

Option C: map URL options (only for that map), for example ?IASChance=100?IASWeapons=rockets

If a setting is given more than once, the map URL wins, then the command line, then Game.ini. Anything you leave out keeps its default.

Server setup

  1. Subscribe the server's mod.io account to this mod.
  2. Add InsurgentAirSupport to your -mutators= list.
  3. Optional: change the settings above.
  4. Play co-op Checkpoint with bots.

Players download it automatically when they join.
