ISL - Marten MK2 RO-520 Excavator

Purpose

A mining vehicle for excavating tunnels, mining and clearing paths for other vehicles.

Although the Marten MK2 has less cargo capacity than the older Ratel, its drills have greater range due to being mounted on hinges, instead of relying on differential suspension height. It also features a tow hitch, allowing the vehicle much greater versatility.

The MK2 has its Cargo containers lower to the ground, is slightly longer, has a better wheel set up and 4 thrusters (two forward, to backward) making it a more stable vehicle than the MK1, and better at climbing slopes. It also has a greater range of movement on the drill hinges.

Features

The Drill hinges are controlled either manually, on toolbar 4 (button 2 to lock position, button 6 to reverse direction) or through the MART script. To activate the MART script, first make sure the "Mrt2-R PB MART" programmable block is turned on, then control the vehicle via remote control (toolbar 4, button 1).

The cockpit has gyroscope control, whereas the remote control (Mrt2-R *RC*) does not, as it would interfere with the MART hinge control.

The suspension strength is set up for carrying a full cargo, so it may be a bit too hard when empty. To re-adjust, simply tap Toolbar 1, button 7 once.

This vehicle is still considered "printable," as there are only two sub-grids, each consisting of one Drill each. After printing, using a set up such as this one, simply place and weld up both drills as seen in the screenshots, then create or add them to the following groups for the toolbar buttons and scripts to function; "Mrt2-R Drills", "Mrt2-R Cargo" & "Mrt2-R MART".

All Programmable blocks are turned off in this blueprint and all toolbars are the same from the cockpit and remote control.

All ships, vehicles & trailers in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston. However in this case the merge block is designed to be ground down after printing, all blocks that require removal are painted bright red.
